Today, BigCommerce is excited to announce the general availability of Facebook Shop for all BigCommerce merchants. The new Shop section is an important enhancement to a business’s Facebook Page, allowing merchants to now merchandise and showcase their products directly on Pages.
“Social commerce is helping retailers translate engagement into revenue, which is a great opportunity in the fast-moving retail industry,” said Tim Schulz, chief product officer at BigCommerce. “Consumers spend a considerable amount of time browsing and interacting with social networks, and now retailers have an organic path for shoppers to visit their stores.”
BigCommerce now successfully integrates with best-in-breed partners to ensure all merchants can sell effectively across multiple sales channels. These partner integrations include those with Facebook, search engine optimization leader Google for increased product discoverability with Google Shopping Feed and the synchronization of online and offline selling with the industry’s only dual-sync Square integration.
To give a bit of backstory, Facebook created Pages for businesses to build their brand, provide business information, publish relevant content and generate followings. The Facebook Page evolved to put the business’ best foot forward, but still lacked a clear way to showcase products. Business owners had to hack together photo albums of products or they intermittently posted products in their timeline, because there was no static place to go to discover the products they sell.
Now, with more than one billion visitors to Pages every month, Facebook is making a prominent, dedicated Shop section on Pages where merchants can feature their products and create collections of products (e.g. “fall collection,” “gifts for him,” etc) to increase product discoverability for the nearly 50% of people who visit the social network to actively look for products….
